Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov after meeting with Tsikhanouskaya: Belarus is an example of how democratic rules can be „broken”

Belarus is a sad example of how democratic rules can be ‘broken’ in a developed European country, with very good education, science and developed economy and how dictatorship can be established in consequence.” This is what Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov said after his meeting with the leader of the Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in the Council of Ministers.

The Prime Minister was firm that this example should be before our eyes as there is no country that is immune from such a course. “The only insurance is to observe the democratic rules, to disallow the exercise of unlimited power as history shows that the temptation to move to a dictatorship regime is extremely great,” Acad. Denkov said.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya thanked Bulgaria for its support on the way to freedom of Belarus. “There can be no peace and security in Belarus in the current situation. We encourage the Bulgarian people to support the Ukrainians in their fight against Russia,” the leader of the Belarusian opposition said further.
